Description
Z18XE is the engine code of the car manufacturer Opel developed and manufactured gasoline engines. This is the successor to the X18XE1 and has, like its predecessor, the following technical data:
- four cylinders
- 1796 cc displacement (stroke × bore 88.2 mm × 80.5 mm)
- 16 valves
- two overhead camshafts ( driven by a toothed belt)
- Exhaust gas recirculation valve
Unlike the X18XE1, however, it has an output of 92 kW (125 hp) at 5600 rpm in the Astra, Zafira and Vectra of 85 kW (116 hp) , and 90 kW (122 hp) in the Vectra C. given at 6000 / min and a maximum torque of 167 Nm at 3800 / min. this also complies with the emission standards Euro 3 and D4, in Vectra C Euro 4 was achieved. With the Corsa C, GSi / Sport built by Opel for the first time the Z18XE is a small car, which makes 92 kW (125 hp). The Corsa C GSi / Sport remains thus the largest motorized engine in the Corsa series.
The Simtec MS71 engine management system works on the principle of ME-Motronic, a combined ignition and injection system with electronic throttle control (e-gas). The Z18XE has a variable intake manifold. The air mass drawn in by the engine is detected by a hot-film air mass meter between the air filter and intake manifold. The high-voltage generation for the sparks is realized by the fully electronic ignition system via an integrated ignition module with one ignition coil for each cylinder.
